SpOTTer is a patent-pending solution designed to detect, quantify and control the usage of the main OTT VoIP protocols on the Operator’s network by continuously monitoring its IP traffic. It is the perfect solution for Regulators and Operators to implement their own policy and monetize the OTT usage.
spOTTer is able to detect and block OTT bypass fraud in real time. This is the guarantee that all the legitimate traffic that was sent to your network will be delivered through the official interconnection, and prevent further loss of revenue.
By default, spOTTer captures the usage of OTTs on the mobile network (3G, 4G, etc.) of the operator. The range of action can be improved by adding broadband/DSL traffic to the monitoring to include the domestic or office usage of OTTs.
SpOTTer can handle the most used protocols: SIP, Viber, Skype, WhatsApp, Line and FaceTime.
FraudBuster monitors the trends and usage of OTTs globally to guarantee that the next popular app and protocol is included in the scope of service of spOTTer.
This includes the ability to handle protocols that would try to hide using VPN tunnels for instance.
spOTTer is based on a dedicated platform combining in-house proprietary software and DPI (Deep Packet Inspection) probes that analyse the IP traffic.
The system architecture comes with 2 options:
All the required hardware (spOTTer platform, probes, network cables, accessories) are provided by FraudBuster. The hardware and software maintenance and supervision is entirely done remotely by FraudBuster.
Any strategy to deal with the OTTs should be defined under the guidance of the Regulator and adopted collectively by all mobile Operators of the country. Individual initiatives for controlling OTTs will likely result in subscribers moving to the next operator who offers more attractive conditions for OTT usage, or doesn’t control it.
FraudBuster has a strong track record in deploying antifraud and traffic control services to operators at country level, and is in the position of providing the technical environment as well as acting as the trusted party that will guarantee that all operators are respecting the collectively defined policy.
